As a formerly licensed classroom English teacher, I have the knowledge and skill to tutor students in light of 21st century standards and teaching methods.  I've successfully completed an Associate Level course under a fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.  (Orton-Gillingham is an instructional approach intended primarily for use with individuals who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing of the sort associated with dyslexia.)  You can be confident that as a teacher-tutor I am skilled in my teaching endorsement area — English language arts pedagogy and content knowledge — concentrating on reading and writing instruction.

I love writing stories of fiction. I'm  also an editor. Most recently, I copyedited in-house (remotely) at Photonics Media on three technical magazines. Before then, I copyeditied for a scientific/medical journal (Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics). I am trained in editing books of fiction. Recently, I edited a ludic/didactic illustrated book of African tales and fables for English language learners (ELLs), doing the developmental edit, line edit, copyedit, and proofread.

I have experience in coaching and mentoring youth and motivating and assisting them in developing communication and interpersonal skills, independence, and work ethic. I use he/him/his pronouns.
